Installation Requirements

Unpack and inspect for shipping damage. Ensure proper location with clearance requirements.

  1. Location: Install in approved area (closet, utility room, basement) with required clearances.
  2. Venting: Use approved PVC pipe for intake and exhaust; follow local codes.
  3. Gas connection: Connect to gas supply with shutoff valve; pressure test for leaks.
  4. Electrical: Connect to 120V AC power with proper grounding.
  5. Condensate drain: Route to floor drain or condensate pump.
  6. Ductwork: Connect supply and return ducts; ensure proper sizing.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by qualified HVAC technician in accordance with all codes. Gas furnaces can produce carbon monoxide.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial startup and configuration.

  1. Power on: Turn on electrical power and gas supply.
  2. Thermostat connection: Connect compatible thermostat (single-stage or communicating).
  3. Blower speed adjustment: Set cooling and heating speeds per installation requirements.
  4. Test operation: Initiate heating cycle from thermostat and verify proper operation.
  5. Check venting: Verify proper draft and condensate flow.

CAUTION! Never bypass safety controls. Ensure proper combustion air supply.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Integrated control board with diagnostic capabilities. Access via control panel cover.

Control Board: LED diagnostic indicator, DIP switches for configuration, terminal strip for thermostat connections.

DIP Switch Settings: Heating airflow (CFM), Cooling airflow (CFM), Fan on delay, Thermostat type selection. Diagnostic LED: Green for normal operation, flashing codes for faults (1 flash = pressure switch, 2 flashes = ignition failure, etc.). Blower Speeds: Adjustable for heating and cooling modes via DIP switches. Gas Valve: Modulating with ignition control.

Connecting to Thermostat

Compatible with most 24V thermostats. For communicating thermostats, additional wiring may be required.

  1. Turn off power to furnace at disconnect switch.
  2. Remove control board access panel.
  3. Connect thermostat wires to terminal strip (R, C, W, G, Y).
  4. For two-stage operation: Connect W2 terminal if available.
  5. Restore power and test thermostat operation.

Tip: Use 18-gauge thermostat wire. Ensure proper polarity for C (common) wire.

Operating Instructions

Operation is controlled through thermostat. Furnace cycles automatically based on temperature demand.

  1. Set thermostat to desired temperature and "Heat" mode.
  2. Furnace will initiate startup sequence: inducer motor on, pressure switch check, igniter warm-up, gas valve opening.
  3. Once ignited, blower will start after brief delay.
  4. When thermostat satisfied, gas valve closes, blower continues for post-purge.
  5. For continuous fan operation, set thermostat to "Fan On."

WARNING! Never operate without filter. Strange odors on first startup are normal as manufacturing oils burn off.

Maintenance Procedures

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity. Annual professional service recommended.

  1. Monthly: Check and replace air filter if dirty.
  2. Annual (by technician): Inspect heat exchanger, clean burners, check gas pressure, test safety controls, clean condensate system, check venting.
  3. Seasonal: Ensure vents are clear of debris, check condensate drain for clogs.

CAUTION! Turn off power and gas before any maintenance. Only qualified technicians should service gas components.
