Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Ensure proper location with adequate clearance.

  1. Select location: Indoors, protected from weather, with proper combustion air.
  2. Prepare base: Level, non-combustible surface or approved furnace stand.
  3. Connect gas supply: Use black iron pipe with drip leg; pressure test for leaks.
  4. Connect venting: Use approved PVC pipe for intake and exhaust.
  5. Connect electrical: 120V AC power supply with proper disconnect and grounding.
  6. Connect thermostat: Use communicating thermostat wires to control board.
  7. Connect ductwork: Secure supply and return ducts with proper sealing.

WARNING! Installation must comply with all local codes and be performed by qualified personnel. Gas leaks can cause explosion or fire.

First-Time Setup

Power on furnace; follow startup procedure.

  1. Verify installation: Check all connections, clearances, and venting.
  2. Set thermostat: Install compatible communicating thermostat and configure settings.
  3. Check gas pressure: Manifold pressure should be set per rating plate (typically 3.5" WC).
  4. Test operation: Initiate heating cycle and verify proper ignition and airflow.
  5. Configure blower speeds: Adjust cooling and heating CFM per installation requirements.
  6. Set filter reminder: Configure control board for filter change alerts.

CAUTION! Never bypass safety controls. Ensure proper ventilation to prevent carbon monoxide buildup.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access settings via thermostat or control board dip switches. Control Board: LED diagnostic light, DIP switches for configuration, terminal strip for connections.

Thermostat Settings: SYSTEM (Heat/Cool/Off), FAN (Auto/On), Temperature setpoint, Schedule programming, Zoning configuration, Filter reminder reset.

DIP Switch Settings: Heating stages (1 or 2), Blower off delay, Cooling speed, Heat speed, Accessory configuration. Diagnostic Codes: LED flash patterns indicate specific faults (1 flash = pressure switch, 2 flashes = ignition failure, etc.).

Connecting Thermostat

Use AccuLink communicating thermostat for full functionality. Conventional thermostats can be used with adapter module.

  1. Turn off power to furnace at disconnect.
  2. Remove control board cover to access terminal strip.
  3. Connect thermostat wires: AccuLink uses 4-wire communication; conventional uses R, W, Y, G, C.
  4. Secure connections and replace cover.
  5. Restore power and configure thermostat.

Tip: Use 18-gauge thermostat wire. Keep low-voltage wires separated from line voltage.

Operation Modes

Two-stage heating with variable airflow.

  1. First stage: Ignites at approximately 65% capacity for mild heating needs.
  2. Second stage: Activates after 10-15 minutes if first stage cannot satisfy thermostat.
  3. Blower operation: Variable speed ramps up slowly for quiet start, adjusts based on need.
  4. Continuous fan: Can be set to run continuously at low speed for air circulation.
  5. Smart response: Communicating thermostat optimizes staging based on temperature difference.
  6. Safety shutdown: Automatic shutdown if high limit, rollout, or pressure switch faults occur.

WARNING! Do not operate furnace without filter. Restricted airflow can damage heat exchanger.

Maintenance Schedule

Monthly: Check filter, clean if reusable. Annually: Professional inspection and cleaning.

Professional maintenance should include: Heat exchanger inspection, Burner cleaning, Flame sensor cleaning, Blower cleaning and lubrication check, Vent system inspection, Gas pressure verification, Safety control testing, Carbon monoxide check.

Care & Cleaning

Turn off power and gas before servicing. Use soft brush and vacuum for cleaning.

CAUTION! Never use water or chemical cleaners on electrical components. Keep area around furnace clear of combustible materials.
