Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level pad.

  1. Select location: Ensure adequate clearance (min 24" on all sides, 48" above).
  2. Set pad: Use concrete or composite pad; level unit.
  3. Connect refrigerant lines: Braze lines using nitrogen purge; ensure tight, leak-free connections.
  4. Connect electrical: Run dedicated circuit from disconnect to unit; follow wiring diagram.
  5. Connect condensate drain: Ensure proper drainage away from unit.
  6. Evacuate and charge: Evacuate system to 500 microns; charge per nameplate data.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Follow all local codes and safety procedures.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial startup and system check.

  1. Power on: Turn on disconnect and indoor unit power.
  2. Set thermostat: Configure for cooling mode; set temperature.
  3. Check operation: Verify compressor and fan start; listen for unusual noises.
  4. Measure performance: Check superheat/subcooling; adjust charge if needed.
  5. Test safety controls: Verify high/low pressure switches, thermostat operation.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Ensure electrical connections are secure.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control via thermostat. Unit includes internal safety controls.

Thermostat Settings: COOL mode, FAN (AUTO/ON), temperature setpoint.

Internal Controls: High-pressure switch, low-pressure switch, compressor overload, fan delay.

Setup Options: None required at outdoor unit; all configuration via thermostat and indoor unit.

Connecting Components

Connect to indoor unit (furnace or air handler), thermostat, power supply, and condensate drain.

  1. Turn off all power before connecting.
  2. Match refrigerant lines (liquid and suction) to indoor coil.
  3. Connect low-voltage wiring (typically 24V) between thermostat, indoor unit, and outdoor unit.
  4. Connect line-voltage wiring (208/230V) from disconnect to unit.
  5. Ensure condensate drain line is properly routed and trapped.

Tip: Refer to wiring diagram on unit panel for specific connections.

Operation

System operates based on thermostat demand.

  1. Set thermostat to COOL mode and desired temperature.
  2. Fan setting: AUTO (runs with cooling) or ON (continuous).
  3. Compressor and outdoor fan start when cooling is needed.
  4. System cycles off when setpoint is reached.
  5. For best efficiency, keep filters clean and maintain clear airflow around unit.

WARNING! Do not operate if unusual noises, vibrations, or refrigerant leaks are detected. Turn off power and contact technician.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity.

Care & Cleaning

Turn off power before cleaning. Clean outdoor coil with water spray (no high pressure). Keep cabinet clean with damp cloth.

CAUTION! Do not use harsh chemicals or pressure washers. Do not bend fins.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Unit not runningPower off, thermostat setting, tripped breakerCheck disconnect and breaker; verify thermostat is in COOL mode below room temp.
Poor coolingDirty filter/coil, low refrigerant, restricted airflowClean filter and outdoor coil; check for blocked vents; call for service.
Unit cycles on/off frequentlyDirty coil, overcharge, faulty controlClean coil; check charge; may require technician.
Unusual noiseLoose parts, debris in fan, failing motorTurn off power; inspect for loose panels, debris; contact technician.
Ice on refrigerant lines/coilLow airflow, low refrigerant chargeCheck filter and indoor coil; turn system off; call for service.

Reset: Turn thermostat off, wait 5 minutes, turn back on. If problem persists, call technician.
