Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on level, stable pad.

  1. Select location: Outdoor pad with proper clearances (min 24" from walls, 48" from air openings).
  2. Gas connection: Use black iron pipe; install sediment trap; pressure test for leaks.
  3. Electrical connection: 240V, 60Hz power supply; install disconnect within sight of unit.
  4. Ductwork: Connect supply and return ducts; seal all joints with mastic.
  5. Condensate drain: Install 3/4" PVC line with proper slope away from unit.

WARNING! Gas installation must be performed by qualified technician. Ensure proper ventilation and combustion air supply.

First-Time Setup

Power on unit; verify proper operation.

  1. Check gas pressure: Use manometer to verify correct inlet and manifold pressure.
  2. Verify airflow: Check static pressure; adjust blower speed if necessary.
  3. Test ignition sequence: Observe heating cycle for proper ignition and flame.
  4. Check cooling operation: Verify proper refrigerant charge and temperature drop.
  5. Program thermostat: Set heating/cooling setpoints, fan operation, and schedules.

CAUTION! Initial startup must be performed by qualified HVAC technician. Verify all safety controls function properly.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Access control board via service panel. Integrated control board with diagnostic LED.

Control Board: LED diagnostic light (flash codes), DIP switches for configuration, terminal strip for thermostat connections.

Heating Settings: Gas valve adjustment, fan delay on/off timing. Cooling Settings: Compressor protection timers, fan operation modes. Blower Settings: Multi-speed taps (COOL, HEAT, FAN), adjustable airflow. Safety Controls: High limit switch, flame rollout switch, pressure switches, overtemperature protection.

Connecting Thermostat

Compatible with most 24V thermostats. Standard connections: R, C, W, Y, G.

  1. Turn off power at disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. Remove control board access panel.
  3. Connect thermostat wires to terminal strip: R (24V), C (Common), W (Heat), Y (Cool), G (Fan).
  4. Secure wires; replace access panel.
  5. Restore power; test thermostat operation.

Tip: Use 18-gauge thermostat wire. Ensure proper polarity for C wire connection.

Operation Modes

Heating, Cooling, and Fan Only modes.

  1. Heating Mode: Thermostat calls for heat; igniter glows; gas valve opens; burner lights; blower starts after delay.
  2. Cooling Mode: Thermostat calls for cool; compressor and outdoor fan start; indoor blower starts immediately.
  3. Fan Only: Thermostat set to FAN ON; indoor blower runs continuously.
  4. Automatic Mode: Thermostat automatically switches between heating and cooling based on setpoints.
  5. Emergency Heat: On heat pump models only (not applicable to this model).

WARNING! Do not operate without proper airflow. Ensure filters are clean before operation.

Maintenance Schedule

Monthly: Check/replace air filter. Annually: Professional inspection and cleaning.

FrequencyTask
MonthlyInspect/replace air filter
SeasonallyCheck condensate drain line; clear if clogged
Annually (Spring)Clean outdoor coil; check refrigerant charge; inspect electrical connections
Annually (Fall)Inspect heat exchanger; clean burners; check gas pressure and connections
As NeededClear debris from around unit; ensure proper clearances

Care & Cleaning

Turn off power before servicing. Keep unit clear of debris.

  1. Outdoor coil: Clean with soft brush and coil cleaner (non-acidic).
  2. Burners: Vacuum gently; do not use wire brushes.
  3. Blower wheel: Remove and clean with soft brush.
  4. Drain pan: Flush with water and mild detergent.
  5. Cabinet: Wash with mild soap and water; rinse thoroughly.

CAUTION! Do not use high-pressure water on electrical components. Never bend coil fins.

Troubleshooting

SymptomPossible CauseCorrective Action
Unit won't startPower loss, thermostat issueCheck disconnect and breaker; verify thermostat settings and batteries.
No heatGas supply, ignition failureVerify gas valve is on; check for flash codes on control board.
No coolRefrigerant, compressorCheck for tripped breaker; listen for compressor operation.
Short cyclingDirty filter, thermostat locationReplace air filter; ensure thermostat not in direct sunlight or draft.
Blower not runningMotor, capacitor, controlCheck for voltage at motor; inspect capacitor; verify control board signals.
Unusual noisesLoose parts, debrisTighten access panels; remove debris from blower wheel and housing.
