Installation Requirements

Unpack and inspect for shipping damage. Select a suitable outdoor location.

  1. Location: Place on level, stable pad (concrete or composite) with adequate clearance (min 24" on all sides).
  2. Pad Preparation: Ensure pad is level to prevent vibration and noise.
  3. Refrigerant Lines: Connect pre-charged lines to indoor unit using proper brazing techniques and nitrogen purge.
  4. Electrical: Install a dedicated circuit with proper disconnect within sight of unit.
  5. Condensate Drain: Ensure proper drainage from indoor unit.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Incorrect installation can cause injury or equipment failure.

First-Time Startup

After installation, perform system commissioning.

  1. Pre-Start Check: Verify all electrical connections are tight and refrigerant lines are sealed.
  2. Power On: Energize the disconnect switch and indoor air handler/furnace.
  3. Thermostat Setup: Set thermostat to COOL mode and temperature below room temperature.
  4. System Check: Listen for compressor start-up; check for proper airflow and cooling at registers.
  5. Measurements: Technician should verify superheat/subcooling, voltage, and amperage.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Allow 24 hours for refrigerant to stabilize after installation.

Specifications

Controls and Operation

Primary control is via a compatible thermostat. Unit has internal protection controls.

Thermostat Operation: Set to COOL, AUTO fan, desired temperature. System cycles automatically.

Unit Controls: Internal high/low pressure switches, compressor overload protector, anti-short cycle timer.

LED Status Light: Located on control board. Steady = normal operation. Flashing = fault condition (refer to code chart).

Wiring and Electrical Connections

Refer to wiring diagram on unit service panel.

  1. Disconnect all power before servicing.
  2. Connect line voltage (L1, L2) and ground to terminal block.
  3. Connect low-voltage thermostat wires (Y, C) from indoor unit to outdoor unit.
  4. Ensure conduit connections are weather-tight.

Tip: Use copper conductors only. Torque electrical connections to specifications on diagram.

Maintenance Procedures

Annual maintenance by a qualified technician is recommended.

  1. Inspect Coil: Clean outdoor coil of dirt, leaves, and debris. Use a soft brush or low-pressure water spray.
  2. Check Electrical: Inspect connections for tightness and corrosion.
  3. Verify Refrigerant Charge: Check subcooling/superheat.
  4. Inspect Fan Motor: Lubricate per manufacturer instructions (if applicable).
  5. Check Mounting: Ensure unit is level and secure.
  6. Clear Area: Maintain 24-inch minimum clearance around unit.

WARNING! Turn off power at disconnect before performing any maintenance. Do not attempt to service refrigerant system.

Safety Features

High-Pressure Switch: Shuts off compressor if discharge pressure is excessive. Low-Pressure Switch: Protects compressor from low refrigerant charge. Compressor Overload: Internal thermal protection. Anti-Short Cycle Timer: Prevents rapid compressor cycling (minimum 5-minute off time).

Care & Cleaning

Keep the outdoor unit clear of vegetation, leaves, and snow. Clean the coil surface annually with a garden hose (spray from the inside out). Do not use pressure washers.

CAUTION! Do not bend or damage the aluminum fins. Keep the top discharge area unobstructed.

Regulatory Information
