Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a stable, level pad.

  1. Select Location: Choose a well-ventilated area away from obstructions.
  2. Set Pad: Install on a solid, level concrete pad or approved mounting system.
  3. Electrical Connection: Connect to proper power supply via disconnect switch per local codes.
  4. Refrigerant Lines: Connect pre-charged lineset to indoor unit following brazing and evacuation procedures.
  5. Condensate Drain: Ensure proper drainage from indoor unit.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Follow all safety codes. Unit contains high voltage and refrigerant under pressure.

First-Time Startup

After installation, perform initial startup and system check.

  1. Power On: Ensure electrical disconnect is on and thermostat is set to OFF.
  2. System Check: Verify refrigerant charge, electrical connections, and airflow.
  3. Thermostat Setup: Program thermostat for desired temperature and fan settings.
  4. Test Operation: Set thermostat to COOL mode below room temperature to start system.
  5. Monitor: Listen for normal operation and check for proper cooling.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Allow unit to complete a full cycle before adjustments.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control is via the indoor thermostat. Outdoor unit has internal safety controls.

Thermostat Settings: MODE (COOL, OFF, HEAT if applicable), FAN (AUTO, ON), TEMPERATURE setpoint.

Outdoor Unit: Contains contactor, capacitor, and control board. Service switch or disconnect provides local power control.

No user-adjustable settings on outdoor unit. All operational settings (temperature, schedules) are made at the thermostat.

Connecting to Indoor Unit

This is a split system requiring a matched indoor coil/furnace or air handler.

  1. Ensure power is OFF at disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Braze lineset connections, evacuate, and charge per manufacturer guidelines.
  3. Connect Low-Voltage Wires: Connect thermostat control wires (typically 24V) between indoor unit and outdoor unit terminal strip.
  4. Connect Power Wires: Run high-voltage wires from disconnect to outdoor unit terminals (L1, L2, Ground).

Tip: Use correct wire gauge per NEC and local codes. Label all wires for future service.

Operation

Normal operation is controlled by the indoor thermostat.

  1. Set thermostat to COOL mode and desired temperature.
  2. Set fan to AUTO (cycles with compressor) or ON (continuous).
  3. Outdoor unit fan and compressor will start when cooling is demanded.
  4. Unit will cycle off when set temperature is reached.
  5. For seasonal shutdown, turn thermostat to OFF and consider shutting off power at disconnect.

WARNING! Do not attempt to operate if unusual noises, smoke, or burning smells are detected. Turn off power immediately and call for service.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity. Some tasks require a professional.

Homeowner: Keep area around outdoor unit clear of debris, leaves, and vegetation (minimum 2 feet clearance).

Professional Service (Annual): Clean condenser coil, check refrigerant charge, inspect electrical components, check amp draws, lubricate motors if required, and tighten electrical connections.

Care & Cleaning

Turn off power at disconnect before any cleaning.

Gently clean exterior cabinet with a damp cloth. Use a soft brush or low-pressure water spray to clean condenser coil fins from the inside out. Straighten any bent fins with a fin comb.

CAUTION! Do not use high-pressure water or steam. Do not use harsh chemicals or solvents. Do not insert objects into fan guard.
