Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on stable, level pad.

  1. Select Location: Ensure adequate clearance (24" minimum on all sides, 48" above).
  2. Place Pad: Use concrete or composite pad; level unit.
  3. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Braze lineset to unit connections using nitrogen purge.
  4. Connect Electrical: Run 240V power from disconnect to unit terminals (L1, L2, Ground).
  5. Connect Control Wiring: Run 24V control wires from indoor unit to thermostat terminals.
  6. Evacuate and Charge: Evacuate system to 500 microns, charge per nameplate/subcooling.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Follow all local codes and safety procedures.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial startup and system check.

  1. Verify Installation: Check all electrical and refrigerant connections are tight.
  2. Set Thermostat: Install compatible thermostat; set to OFF mode.
  3. Power On: Turn on power at disconnect and indoor unit.
  4. Start System: Set thermostat to COOL, temperature below room temp.
  5. Check Operation: Verify compressor and fan start; listen for unusual noises.
  6. Measure Performance: Check superheat/subcooling; measure temperature drop across indoor coil.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Ensure electrical power is off during wiring.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control via thermostat. Unit includes internal protection controls.

Thermostat Settings: COOL, OFF, FAN (ON/AUTO). Set desired temperature.

Unit Controls: Internal high/low pressure switches, compressor thermal overload, fan delay on shutdown.

Dip Switches (if applicable on indoor unit): May adjust fan delay, airflow, or staging.

No user-serviceable controls on outdoor unit. All adjustments require qualified technician.

Connecting Components

Connect to matched indoor unit (air handler or furnace) and thermostat.

  1. Turn off all power at disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Liquid (small) and suction (large) lines to corresponding ports.
  3. Connect Power: 240V lines to L1, L2, and ground terminal.
  4. Connect Control: 24V lines from indoor unit (Y, C, possibly O/B) to outdoor unit terminal block.
  5. Restore power in sequence: indoor unit first, then outdoor disconnect.

Tip: Label all wires before disconnecting. Use copper conductors only.

Operation

Normal cooling operation via thermostat.

  1. Set thermostat to COOL mode and desired temperature.
  2. Fan setting: AUTO (runs with compressor) or ON (continuous).
  3. Compressor and outdoor fan will cycle on to meet set temperature.
  4. In OFF mode, system does not cool. Fan may run if set to ON.
  5. Unit may have a short time delay between cycles (approx 5 minutes).

WARNING! Do not cover or block airflow to unit. Keep area clear of debris.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity.

CAUTION! Turn off power before any cleaning or inspection. Do not use pressure washer.

Care & Cleaning

Keep unit clean for optimal performance.

  1. Turn off power at disconnect.
  2. Remove leaves, grass clippings, and debris from top and sides.
  3. Gently rinse coil with garden hose (nozzle setting: shower). Spray from inside facing out to push debris outwards.
  4. Straighten any bent coil fins with a fin comb.
  5. Ensure drain ports at base are clear.

CAUTION! Do not use chemicals, solvents, or steam cleaners. Do not bend fins excessively.
