Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on a level, stable pad.

  1. Position unit: Place on a concrete pad or approved mounting system. Ensure adequate clearance for airflow and service.
  2. Connect refrigerant lines: Connect pre-charged lines to indoor unit. Follow proper brazing and evacuation procedures.
  3. Connect electrical: Run high-voltage power to disconnect box. Connect low-voltage communication wires to AccuLink™ terminals.
  4. Connect condensate drain: Ensure proper drainage from indoor unit.
  5. Complete final checks: Verify all connections are secure and leak-free.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Incorrect installation can cause property damage, personal injury, or death. Disconnect all power before servicing.

First-Time Setup

Power on system; configure via AccuLink™ thermostat.

  1. Power up: Turn on power at disconnect and indoor air handler/furnace.
  2. Configure thermostat: Follow AccuLink™ thermostat prompts to set up system, date, time, and preferences.
  3. System test: Initiate a test cycle from the thermostat to verify cooling operation and communication.
  4. Set comfort settings: Program desired temperature schedules and modes (Cool, Auto, Fan).

CAUTION! Do not attempt to adjust refrigerant charge or internal settings without proper training and equipment.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control is through the compatible AccuLink™ thermostat. Outdoor unit has an LED service light for diagnostics.

Thermostat Functions: Mode selection (Cool, Heat, Off, Auto), Fan (Auto, On), Temperature Setpoint, Schedule Programming, System Status, Alerts, Humidity Control (with capable indoor unit), Filter Reminder.

Outdoor Unit LED: Steady = Normal operation. Flashing = Diagnostic code active (refer to service manual).

Advanced Settings (via Thermostat Installer Menu): Compressor minimum/maximum run times, fan control parameters, dehumidification settings, system type configuration.

Connecting Devices

This is a split system requiring connection to an indoor unit (air handler or furnace) and a thermostat.

  1. Turn off all power at the disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Use correct line size. Braze, evacuate, and charge per manufacturer guidelines.
  3. Connect Communication Wires: Use shielded 18-gauge multi-conductor wire between outdoor unit, indoor unit, and thermostat (typically 4-6 wires).
  4. Connect High-Voltage Power: Run power from disconnect to outdoor unit terminals (L1, L2).
  5. Connect Low-Voltage Power: Indoor unit provides 24V power to thermostat.

Tip: Label all wires during installation for easier future service. Ensure wire gauge meets local code and unit requirements.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity.

  1. Outdoor Unit: Keep area clear of debris, leaves, and vegetation (minimum 2 ft clearance). Gently clean coil with water hose (power off). Straighten any bent fins.
  2. Indoor Unit: Replace air filter regularly (check monthly). Schedule professional annual maintenance.
  3. Professional Service: Annual inspection should include: check refrigerant charge, inspect electrical connections, clean coils, check condensate drain, verify system operation and safety controls.
  4. Winterization: In cold climates, consider a protective cover (ensure it does not trap moisture).

WARNING! Always turn off power at the disconnect before performing any cleaning or maintenance around the outdoor unit. Do not use a pressure washer on the coil.

Accessibility Features

AccuLink™ thermostats may offer features such as backlit displays, large fonts, and audible alerts. Consult your specific thermostat manual. The system's variable-speed operation provides consistent temperatures and improved dehumidification for enhanced comfort.

Care & Cleaning

Disconnect power before any cleaning. Clean outdoor coil annually with a garden hose. Keep the area around the unit clear. Clean the indoor unit's drain line as needed.

CAUTION! Do not use chemical cleaners or solvents on the coil or cabinet. Do not bend the delicate aluminum fins.
