Installation Guidelines

Unpack and inspect unit for damage. Select a level, stable outdoor location with adequate airflow.

  1. Position unit: Place on concrete pad or approved mounting system, ensuring clearances per manual.
  2. Connect refrigerant lines: Braze lines to service valves following proper procedures.
  3. Electrical connections: Connect power wiring to disconnect box and unit terminals per local codes.
  4. Connect thermostat: Run low-voltage wires from indoor unit to outdoor unit.
  5. Evacuate and charge: Evacuate system to 500 microns, charge with R-410A to specified weight.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. Follow all safety codes.

First-Time Startup

After installation, perform startup procedure.

  1. Power on: Turn on disconnect switch and indoor unit power.
  2. Set thermostat: Set to COOL mode, temperature below room temp.
  3. Check operation: Listen for compressor and fan; verify cooling at registers.
  4. Measure parameters: Check superheat/subcooling, amp draw, line voltages.
  5. Inspect for leaks: Use electronic leak detector.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Keep area clear of debris.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control via thermostat. Unit has internal protection controls.

Thermostat Settings: COOL, OFF, FAN (ON/AUTO), temperature setpoint.

Unit Controls: High/low pressure switches, compressor overload, fan relay, crankcase heater (if equipped). No user-adjustable settings on outdoor unit; all adjustments made via thermostat or indoor unit.

Connecting to Thermostat

Low-voltage connection (24V) between indoor air handler/furnace and outdoor unit.

  1. Turn off power at disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. Run thermostat cable: Typically 18/5 or 18/7, from indoor unit to outdoor unit.
  3. Connect wires: Match terminals (Y, C, O/B, etc.) per wiring diagram.
  4. Secure connections and restore power.

Tip: Use correct wire gauge and follow diagram provided with indoor unit.

Operating Modes

Operates in cooling mode only (standard).

  1. Cooling: Thermostat calls for cooling, engages compressor and fan.
  2. Fan: Continuous fan operation possible via thermostat FAN ON setting.
  3. Off: System off via thermostat.

WARNING! Do not operate in heating mode unless equipped with heat pump version.

Maintenance & Cleaning

Annual professional maintenance recommended.

  1. Clean coil: Gently brush or use coil cleaner, rinse with water.
  2. Clear area: Keep vegetation and debris away from unit.
  3. Check electrical: Inspect connections for tightness, corrosion.
  4. Inspect refrigerant lines: Look for damage or insulation deterioration.

CAUTION! Turn off power before servicing. Do not use pressure washer on coil.
