Installation

Unpack and inspect contents. Place on level, stable pad.

  1. Select Location: Choose a level area with adequate airflow, away from windows and obstructions.
  2. Set Pad: Place on a concrete pad or approved composite stand.
  3. Connect Refrigerant Lines: Braze lineset to unit service valves following proper procedures.
  4. Electrical Connection: Connect line voltage to unit disconnect; connect low voltage to thermostat.
  5. Vacuum and Charge: Evacuate system to 500 microns, charge with specified amount of R-410A.

WARNING! Installation must be performed by a qualified HVAC technician. High voltage present. Refrigerant under pressure.

First-Time Setup

After installation, perform initial system commissioning.

  1. Power On: Ensure electrical disconnect is ON and indoor unit is powered.
  2. Thermostat Setup: Configure compatible thermostat for cooling mode and desired temperature.
  3. System Check: Verify proper airflow from indoor vents, listen for normal compressor operation.
  4. Performance Verification: Check superheat/subcooling per manufacturer's specifications.

CAUTION! Do not operate without proper refrigerant charge. Allow unit to complete its startup cycle.

Specifications

Controls and Settings

Primary control is via the compatible indoor thermostat (e.g., American Standard AccuLink™).

Thermostat Functions: MODE (Cool/Off), FAN (Auto/On), TEMPERATURE SETPOINT, SCHEDULE, SYSTEM STATUS.

Unit has no user-serviceable internal controls. Service technician can access: Compressor contactor, Capacitor, Control board (if equipped), High and Low-pressure switches, Thermostat connections (Y, C, G, etc.).

Connecting to Thermostat

Low-voltage connection between outdoor unit, indoor air handler/furnace, and thermostat.

  1. Turn OFF power at disconnect and indoor unit.
  2. At indoor unit control board, connect wires: Y (cooling), C (common), G (fan), etc., as per wiring diagram.
  3. Run low-voltage wire to outdoor unit terminal block (typically Y and C).
  4. Connect corresponding wires at thermostat sub-base.
  5. Restore power and test operation.

Tip: Always follow the specific wiring diagram provided with the indoor unit and thermostat.

Operation

For normal cooling operation.

  1. Set Thermostat: Set MODE to COOL, FAN to AUTO, and desired temperature below room temp.
  2. System Start: Indoor fan will start, followed by outdoor compressor and fan after a short delay.
  3. Normal Cycling: Unit will cycle on/off to maintain set temperature.
  4. To Stop: Set thermostat MODE to OFF.

WARNING! Do not switch thermostat between HEAT and COOL rapidly. Allow several minutes between cycles.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures efficiency and longevity. Some tasks require a professional.

Homeowner: Keep area around unit clear (2 ft minimum). Gently clean exterior coil with water hose (power off). Ensure indoor filter is clean.

Professional Service (Annual): Inspect refrigerant charge, check electrical connections, clean coils, check capacitor, verify system pressures and temperatures.

Care & Cleaning

Turn OFF power at disconnect before any cleaning.

  1. Exterior: Remove leaves/debris from top grille and around base. Hose down coil from the inside out.
  2. Fins: Straighten any bent fins with a fin comb.
  3. Do NOT use pressure washers or harsh chemicals on the coil.

CAUTION! Do not insert objects into fan blades or top grille. Electrical shock hazard.
